What is a Faith-Based Fitness Mindset?
I used to think that being strong was about lifting the heaviest weights in the room. Now I know that being strong is about sometimes walking away.
I want to share a story with you. A few years ago, I seriously injured my body after lifting a weight that my body wasn’t prepared for. Why did I do it? Because I was in a room filled with people who I felt needed to know that I was one strong mamajama! So, I loaded up the bar beyond what I was programmed for that day regardless of not having slept well or eaten. Mid-lift I tanked and couldn’t lift for weeks.
Am I two years old? Why would I do that?
I did it simply to look cool. But, I guarantee you I didn’t look cool the next couple of days hobbling around my house asking for help to go to the bathroom. So, not cool!
Here’s why I share this ….
No body gets to the end of their life and wishes that they spent more time in the gym.
Let me say that one more time: at the end of your life, you will not be wishing for more time to workout.
There is no point in training at which you can hang up your keys, and call it a night.
Lean is not a final destination.
Fitness isn’t about proving yourself and becoming worthy of people’s admiration. Why?
Because you already have the admiration of the God of the Universe. He’s crazy about you and wants to have a relationship with you!
Don’t let fitness become a way for you to find acceptance when you already have it. That would be like trying to make a reservation for a table that you’re already seated at. You’ve got a seat at the table. Sit down and enjoy the view!
